Alan Chen Stokes and Alex Chen Stokes were born on November 23, 1996, in Shenyang, China, and spent their childhood between Liaoning and Knoxville, Tennessee. They enrolled in pre-medical studies at a California community college and left in 2016 to pursue social media full-time.
Career background
They began making videos separately and then combined their following into a shared twins account, creating their joint YouTube channel on March 11, 2017. For about 18 months they lived in their car while uploading six-second sketches to Instagram before moving their focus to YouTube.
Rise to fame
Mixing prank skits with dance trends popular on Musical.ly, they reached four million subscribers within two years. Multi-language dubbing and a greater focus on YouTube Shorts led to a sharp growth spike in 2024, and their channel passed 100 million subscribers that November.
Public presence
They supported the Team Seas campaign in 2022 and were lead creators supporting Team Water in 2025. Forbes ranked them fifth, 19th and 18th on its Top Creators lists for 2024, 2025 and 2026, and they were named to the 2025 TIME100 Creators list.
